It started with Promatex

  • 1974: PROMATEX is established in Antwerp. It's original focus was smaller trades in various products all over the world.
  • 1989: The current management takes over Promatex. The new company focuses its activities on Europe, Africa and Latin America. As the group expands, certain markets are allocated to sister companies and Promatex concentrates on sales to Africa. 


Global expansion

  • 1994: FERROMEX is set up to cater, in the first instance, for South-East Asia and India. Later on the Middle East, Turkey and the Far East followed.
  • 2002:  - COMPANSID (Comptoir Panamericain Sidérurgique established in 1950), active in Latin America and the Caribbean, joins the Group. All companies being Promatex, Ferromex and Compansid are consolidated in the PROMAFERCOM group.
  • 2005: Ferromex Middle-East, operating from Dubai and Promafercom Asia operating from Hong Kong and with a Representative office in China, are created.
  • 2006: - The group acquires a significant participation in STEEL-LINK B.V., a Dutch dedicated steel trading-house, which strengthens the Group's global market position.



  • 2006: STEELFORCE is the new name for Promafercom and its subsidiaries Promatex, Ferromex, Compansid and all the other recently established companies. SteelFORCE stands for one vision, one approach and one aim. Worldwide Steel Trading! As a global player, SteelFORCE sets up clear geographical departments to consolidate its transparent and uniform structure. 


  • 2007: The company structure simplifies even more. SteelFORCE NV now combines all activities on the American, Asian and African continent.


  • 2008: SteelFORCE sets up a trading hub in Singapore called Steelforce South East Asia Pte Ltd. From there we also started to develop our activities in Indonesia. A new office is also opened in Turkey.


  • 2010: Expono Steelforce is added to the group activity and as such expanding its activity in Central Europe besides trading also in distribution and steel processing


  • 2011: PT SteelFORCE Indonesia is incorporated in Jakarta further growing through local trading and steel distribution in 3 places within Indonesia.


  • 2014: SEAL of QUALITY develops our packaging knowledge and structures our ETP/TFS activities on a worldwide basis.


  • 2016: Setting up SteelFORCE in South Korea to expand our sourcing portfolio out of the region with close ties to local mills
