An important buyer and regular customer from Angola contacts John at the trading department. He is in the market for a total of 10,000 tons of steel: 5,000 tons of merchant bars, 3,000 tons of reinforcing bars and 2,000 tons of profiles. Destination: Lobito, Angola. Deadline: within two months.
When arriving in the office, John finds a mail from Russia with an attractive reference price. A price that could not only suit his Angolan client but others as well. He immediately forwards the information to a group of potentially interested clients.
John receives a more attractive offer for his client from another mill. He immediately calls the client, who, confirms his interest to buy the merchant bars and the reinforcing bars at a price close to the offer. For the profiles, the client prefers not to confirm yet at this stage.
Based on the firm bid from the client, John starts negotiations with the mill, the shipping company and even the bank. At the end of the day he has an agreement with all parties and can now confirm the order at the price expected by the client.
